CARING Ministries

Homebound Visitation Team

Our Homebound Visitation team makes scheduled visits to those in our church family who are not able to get out and attend church. The individuals who are a part of this important ministry team make visits as their schedules allow – some once a week, some once a month. If you are interested in being a part of this team, contact Gerry Campbell or Daphne Moses at 731-668-0617.

Stephen Ministry

The Eyes and Ears of Jesus
We are the eyes and ears of Jesus on earth today. It is our duty and privilege as Christians to serve Christ through watching and listening to people around us, recognizing when they have needs for care and support. If you find someone with a need, listen and care. If you realize the need is something greater than you can provide, tell the person about our Stephen Ministry and put him or her in touch with one of our pastors.  Stephen Ministers are ready to provide the emotional and spiritual care to those facing crisis or difficult circumstances.
If you would like more information, contact Rowland Fisher at rfisher@eplus.net.

Dorcas Ministry

Dorcas was a New Testament woman “abounding with deeds of kindness and charity.” – Acts 9:36.
The Dorcas ministry at Northside attempts to meet the needs of our membership through the provision of meals due to hospitalization, deaths, or being homebound. If you would like more information or to join this ministry team, contact  Annette Wright at 731-225-3062.

The Prayer Shawl Ministry

The Prayer Shawl Ministry provides hand-knitted or crocheted shawls to members of the congregation who are going through difficult times. The symbolism of the shawl indicates shelter, peace and spiritual comfort. The shawls are an outward expression of our love and a continuing reminder of God’s love. Personal instruction and patterns are available to those who would like to make one. We have several people who contribute shawls they have made at home. For more about the Prayer Shawl Ministry, contact Debbie Holmes at  Debbie@northsidejackson.com .

Lydia's Footsteps

“Now a certain woman named Lydia heard us. She was a seller of purple from the city of Thyatira, who worshiped God. The Lord opened her heart to heed the things spoken by Paul. “And when she and her house-hold were baptized, she begged us, saying, “If you have judged me to be faithful to the Lord, come to my house and stay.” Acts 16: 14-15

Statement of Purpose:
We at “Lydia’s Footsteps,” are Christian women whose main purpose is to spread the gospel of Jesus Christ. We have chosen to incorporate our love of fabric and quilting with our God-given talents of art and design. It is our desire to bring God’s word and love into homes through our unique signed and hand-written scripture creations.

Lydia’s Footsteps into your home:
This creation was handmade by the ladies of “Lydia’s Footsteps”. Lydia was a woman from the city of Thyatira (in Asia Minor) who sold purple cloth. In Acts 16: 15 she was baptized by Paul and she said to him “If you have judged me faithful to the Lord, come to my house to stay.” We at “Lydia’s Footsteps” are saying to you. “If you judge these verses to be faithful to the Lord and if they speak to your heart, then take them into your house to stay.” Psalm 119:105: Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.

If you wish to purchase a quilt to give as a gift to someone special or if you have any questions about Lydia's Footsteps, contact Diane Rose at 901-485-6043.

Prayer Ministry

We know prayer is the key to knowing God’s will for our church. We take seriously praying for each other, our community, and our world.

Worship Prayer Ministry:
This lay ministry is dedicated to praying for our Church, pastors and staff each week and during each Sunday service. We begin the week by contacting our pastors for specific prayer needs and begin praying daily. On Sunday, we meet prior to the Sunday service and deliver a brief spoken prayer with the worship team and choir, and then remain in a quiet area and pray privately during the service. We follow a rotating schedule, where you will serve approximately once per quarter. If you have any questions or would like more information, contact Jim Russell at 731-695-2480.

Weekly Prayer in the Hope Hall prayer room on Tuesday mornings at 8:15 am-8:45 am.
